About Johanna
I’m Johanna Rabinowitz, a pediatric speech-language pathologist and the founder of Wind Ridge Speech Pathology, based in Potomac, Maryland.
I’ve spent over a decade working with children and families across early intervention, preschool, elementary schools, and private practice settings. I received my bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University and my master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from CUNY Hunter College. My career began in New York City public schools and later continued in the DC area, including work within Montgomery County Public Schools, where I supported students across multiple schools.
During my time in New York City public schools, I especially enjoyed working closely alongside teachers, collaborating to adapt curriculum, embed language support into classroom activities, and coach educators on how to incorporate language strategies throughout the day. I continue to bring this classroom-informed lens into my private practice, helping ensure that strategies feel relevant, functional, and aligned across the environments where children learn and grow.
As both a clinician and a local parent, I understand how overwhelming it can be to sort through questions about your child’s communication or feeding development, especially when information feels unclear or overly complicated. Many families aren’t just looking for answers; they're looking for guidance they can trust and strategies that truly fit into their daily lives.
That’s how I approach my work.
I partner closely with families to create individualized, thoughtful support that feels both manageable and meaningful. Sessions are designed not only to support your child but to help you feel confident in how to support them throughout your day.
My areas of focus include early communication, speech and language development, pediatric feeding, and the connection between language and literacy. I am trained in approaches including Orton-Gillingham, SOS Feeding, PROMPT, and TalkTools, and I integrate these in a way that is both evidence-based and practical.
About Wind Ridge Speech Pathology
Wind Ridge Speech Pathology is a boutique, family-centered practice offering personalized speech, language, and feeding support for infants through school-aged children.
I provide a more thoughtful alternative to traditional therapy, one that prioritizes connection, clarity, and care that extends beyond the therapy session.
Families come to Wind Ridge for different reasons. Some are navigating specific concerns. Others are seeking trusted guidance early on to better understand their child’s development, strengthen communication, and feel confident in how to support their child day to day.
My work is grounded in a few core principles:
-
Care that is individualized and relationship-driven
-
Therapy that is play-based, engaging, and developmentally attuned
-
Guidance that is evidence-based, practical, and easy to carry into everyday life
-
Collaboration across home, school, and community settings
I believe in both supporting challenges and being proactive, which I often think of as prehab for communication. By working with families early and intentionally, I help build strong, lasting foundations for speech, language, and feeding development.
Services are thoughtfully tailored and may include:
-
Comprehensive evaluations with in-depth, supportive feedback
-
Individualized therapy sessions
-
Parent coaching and ongoing consultation
-
Caregiver-child classes and curated workshops
-
Collaboration with teachers and schools, including classroom-based strategies when appropriate
I offer flexible service options, including in-home, in-office, and virtual care, so support fits naturally into your family’s life.
At Wind Ridge, I aim to be more than a therapy provider. I am a trusted partner offering clarity, guidance, and a steady, supportive presence as your child grows.
Building strong communication foundations—with intention, expertise, and care.
